GREETINGS FROM THE BoMa!

I hope this newsletter finds you healthy and safe. Let’s all give ourselves a huge hug for making it through January. Know that you’re giving every day the best version of you, and that’s all we could ask for from ourselves. It’s cold, it gets dark early, and most of the time the only hugs we’re getting are virtually. Part of finding balance in your life, is having the same grace for ourself as we have for some one we love dearly. So show yourself some love today for where you are! It took a lot of work to get here!

For me, January was a whirlwind of change and emotions. The month started off with my parents in the hospital due to Covid related complications. This was especially hard in the world we live in today, because once they enter those double doors to the hospital, we can’t be with them again until they come back out. The staff was amazing at caring for our parents and their needs, and we really appreciated them keeping us updated so we could explain to our parents what was going on. The hospital stay was especially difficult for mom because she doesn’t speak English and she couldn’t be in the same room as dad because of the bed shortage. My brother and I did what we could to help her feel less stressed by translating the updates from the doctor and nurses. To elevate our anxiety of not being to be at the hospital with them, we brought them meals to ensure the proper nutrient. Because we know that 80% of our immune system is in our gut, eating healthy and taking the right supplements can only help speed up the recovery process. I may or may not have snuck some supplements in their smoothies when I dropped off food.

They are home now and are being wonderful patients by continuing all their medications, supplements and feeling stronger everyday. I’m sharing our personal life experience because I want to share some of the remedies we use to boost our immune system and theirs during these times.

In other news, NEW BoMa SWAG is in! I’m so incredibly honored to have the opportunity to offer this local makers amazing leather treasures on our website. I have followed Kristen from F. F. Wellness/Stay Well Boxes Coming Soon!

How to stay healthy through difficult times.

We have been working hard on curating the perfect ‘Wellness box’ and ‘Staying Well box’ for you to send as a gift to someone that could use an immune boost. These boxes are also a great way to say thank you to an essential worker like a teacher or a nurse who is out there everyday taking care of our loved ones. The products in these boxes are some of the remedies we used for my parents, and are what we use everyday.

We encourage you to do your own research or talk to your health specialist to see if these supplements are for you. We get all our vitamin supplements from Ian Miller from MCH in North Canton. Memoirs of WWII

January Give Back

You may recognize Heather as one of BoMa’s Team members. She has made a huge impact in BoMa in the short time she has been with us and we are honored to be a part of what she and her husband Josh are doing with their nonprofit! Josh and Heather are the founders of Memoir of WWII where they travel to collect the stories of the hero’s of WWII.

They had the opportunity to travel RV style for 10 days, to 10 states, to interview 16 Vets. They chose this way of travel so when they went into each person home to film, it would minimize the spread of germs. They also were careful to clean all the equipment that went in and out of each home to keep everyone healthy and safe. One of the most amazing things about this trip (there really are so many) is they have only ever camped once in their marriage and it was with us last year!!! This was something they wanted to do for a long time, so they just went for it and ROCKING IT!

THE BIG MOVE TO THE LITTLE HOUSE

We made it!

We’ve been in our little house out on the edge for a couple weeks and LOVING it! We created such a hamster wheel of our lives in Canton, constantly running in every direction and now we can finally exhale. My goal with being out of the city is to experience a slower, simpler pace of life where we can be more intentional with our time, resources, and relationships. With that already happening I feel more energized & creative and hope to use this time to learn, and grow to offer you more all natural products for your every day life!

What an adventure moving in the dead of winter has been!

With the closing happening a week later than originally anticipating due to a hiccup (that’s what we’ll call it for now) with the loan officer, it created a level a stress that I wasn’t prepared for. I had already packed my workshop and was ready to move, and I ended up being out of service for a week. Do you know what happens to a maker when they can’t make? It’s not pretty! I learned a lot about myself in that week, and may have needed to apologize more than once to my family for being emotionally out of control. For the love of my family, I visited the nearest craft store to buy $80 worth of yarn to keep myself busy while we waited for the whole thing to unfold. GO AHEAD and judge, but I needed something to calm my nerves, and it helped.

After we finally got the keys to our new house, I was then able to look for the ‘gift in the garbage’. It’s actually a good thing we didn’t close on the original date because we wouldn’t have been available to pick up my parents from the hospital or be as available to help when I was needed. I’m really grateful for that.

We did have the opportunity to meet the awesome couple that own this house before us (I’m probably going to make them my new best friends!) We had the pleasure of hearing some memories from their time here. I loved to hear that this was their first house that they bought after getting married young. They raised their 3 daughter here, and now are blessed to be grandparents. The husband is a contractor and did all the remodels himself (all I can say is Chip & Joanna Gaines have some competition out here). He also built the barn brick by brick with left over materials from job sites. Which I find truly amazing because of his vision and this must have taken years. (this could preach right here) He built it for his girls because they were in 4H and needed shelter for the goats and horses they were showing.

This couple was a pleasure to talk to, and they made the buying processes so easy. We are honored to be making our own family memories in a house that was so loved & cared for. Now to find or make a walking trail for my morning meditations and I’ll be set to GO!

I hope by sharing the adventures of our transition from city to country will bring a smile to your face. I hope it inspires you to do that something that you’ve always thought was out of reach, and empower you to have more Faith than Fear when following your dreams. I pinch myself every morning when I wake up in this house. This house was our ‘SOMEDAY’.
-Some day we would love to have a little house with land. -Some day we wanted chickens, goats, and wooded property we could forage herbs from.
-Some day we would love to have our own building for our businesses and for our community to gather and grow.

As we continue to make plans for the BoMa Barn, dream big for what it will offer to you, and believe in the vision that this next chapter will bring. We are incredibly excited and scared for this opportunity! But like I tell my kids all the time, it’s okay to be scared - just do it anyway. We do it scared because of our faith in Christ, knowing that ‘all things work for good for those who love Him’, and that ‘He has a purpose and a plan for our future’. We do what we do because we love people and we want to serve you.

Continue to work like it depends on you, pray like it depends on God, and watch the miracle unfold smack dab in the middle of it all!
